A great big “go raibh maith agaibh” — thank you! — to the folks at www.thejournal.ie for taking an interest in my story — and to all the readers who shared their support. If you haven’t seen it already, have a look at http://www.thejournal.ie/readme/column-some-90-years-after-my-maternal-grandparents-left-ireland-i-am-returning-4039835-Jun2018/#comment-7264006
Particularly pleased that The Journal featured a photo of my maternal grandparents, James and Mary (née O’Donnell) Barry. James was from Broadford, Co. Limerick while Mary was from Dongloe, Co. Donegal. They were both born near the start of the 20th century, and emigrated to the US circa 1930. I believe they met in Brooklyn, NY. They married and had four children. My mother was their second-born.
